What Is The Difference Between Hair Trimmers And Hair Clippers?

A clipper is intended for bulk hair cutting on larger areas, but does not cut extremely close to the skin. On the other hand, a trimmer is designed for edging, outlining, dry shaving and light shaping on smaller areas such as the back of the neck, around the ears, around sideburns etc.

What Is A Foil Shaver Used For?

Foil shavers offer the closest shave due to its micro-foil which aligns skin without feeling the shift of skin, like when using a rotary shaver. The foil itself acts as a barrier to the skin and when paired with a pre shave oil or powder, it helps to eliminate any discomfort or skin irritation post shave.

There are many things to consider when looking for hair clippers. Factors such as lifestyle, hair type or the haircut you are trying to achieve will help determine which clipper you need. 

• Blades- The quality and sharpness of the blades are important to achieving a great haircut. 

• Maintenance - To ensure you get a fresh cut every time, a small bit of maintenance is required. Oiling the blades before the first use, then brushing excess hair off the blades and oiling after every use will keep them lubricated which is essential to preventing rust and extending the life of the clipper.

• Adjustable Taper Lever - The taper lever allows you to change the closeness of your cut between guide comb lengths. Moving the lever up for a closer cut, and down for a longer cut. This is particularly useful for fading and blending as you can be more precise with your cutting lengths.

• Guide Combs - Every hair clipper comes with a set of guide combs. Each comb has a number on it to represent the length of hair that will be left on the head after the clipper has passed over it.

• Cord or No Cord? - There are two types of clippers: Corded or Cord/Cordless. Both have their advantages and your choice of clipper will be dependent on your lifestyle and needs. A corded clipper can be used continuously as you will never run out of power, particularly useful if you need to use it for an extended period of time.
